MAS released an FAQ on 2 June 2025 in which the following are the key updates:
1. MAS warns of scams using MAS Representative Register
There have been a few scams involving the MAS Register of Representatives (RoR) e-service platform. Scammers would ask victims to verify the scammers identity as MAS officials by keying in their names into RoR, deceiving victims into believing that they are MAS officials.
As such, MAS has renamed the RoR to Financial Institution Representatives Register (“FIRR”) or Public Register of Representatives in the various FAQs to reflect that it is a register of financial institutions’ representatives and NOT a register of MAS staff.
Financial institutions should ensure all reference materials and websites are updated to replace RoR with FIRR where applicable.
2. MAS Updates Submission Forms for Exempt Persons
Question 6: MAS has issued updated guidance on the submission of commencement of business forms. Entities are now required to submit the following forms in a machine-readable format.
| Act | Exempt Person | Form |
| SFA | Exempt Corporate Finance Adviser | 22 |
| SFA | Exempt Brokers | 30 |
| FAA | Example financial Adviser | 20 |
What’s Next?
With MAS refining its regulatory FAQs across multiple regimes, firms should:
- Ensure all reference materials and websites are updated to replace RoR with FIRR where applicable.
- Notify their representatives about the new verification processes that customers may inquire about and alert the customers about such scam tactics.
- Verify submission formats for commencement of business forms (must be in machine-readable format, e.g., MS Word).
